Adios in pure ibizan style

The grand finale this one-of-a-kind regatta featured a fun-filled awards ceremony at which there were surprises for everyone. Music, a laid-back atmosphere, laughter, and lots of camaraderie among all the crews brought a very special edition to a close with a record number of participants.

The anticyclone that hovered over the Mediterranean throughout the week meant that the Palma-Ibiza record couldn’t be set on the first day. Once in Ibiza, and even though the wind barely exceeded six knots on all four days, the Race Committee led by Gaspar Morey, Pablo Ferrer and Arianne Mainemare successfully held a nearshore race every day despite very complicated conditions. There were a total of three routes during the event, challenging the fleet to the max. The third edition of Ibiza JoySail culminated with the victories of Moat (Performance), Dark Horse (Performance Cruising), Aurelius (World Cruising) and Svea (J Class) after competing over three races. The whole event was a roaring success with a record number of participants enjoying the competition at sea and the activities on land.

All this hard work was rewarded on each race day. Sun and fantastic weather (although less wind than expected), lots of camaraderie, and a stylish spectacle like no other amid pure Mediterranean landscapes.

With the three days of competition as a prelude, the awards ceremony couldn’t have been more enjoyable. Under a sand-coloured Bedouin tent with privileged views of Dalt Vila, the crews were finally able to kick off their deck shoes and have fun without all the nerves of the competition. Boho chic leather Chester chairs looking out to sea, rustic washed wood tables, armchairs upholstered with English fabrics, wrought iron chairs with cushions, rugs of natural fibres combined with wool and cotton, antique foosball tables, and a huge screen displaying photos and videos of the race provided the perfect backdrop for a very special awards ceremony. Musical performances, an informal cocktail party, and an exclusive speaker from nearby Lío, the most fashionable cabaret in Ibiza, did the rest.

Now, all that remains is for owners and crews to keep the dates free for the 2024 edition so that they can have their spectacular yachts ready to sail through Balearic waters again in one of the most stylish and fun-filled regattas in the entire Med.

See you at Ibiza JoySail 2024!
