Professionals with accomplished careers in different areas of the yachting industry and, above all, with huge passion for what they do, form part of the organising team of this simply extraordinary superyacht regatta.

Ibiza JoySail, the season-end superyacht regatta in the Balearics organised by STP Shipyard Palma and Marina Ibiza, will again feature an outstanding technical and organisational team at this year’s edition.

The event is invitation-only as of 2023, so no more than twenty boats will be sailing in the third Ibiza JoySail being held from 27 to 30 September, rounding off the summer season and celebrating the yachting life in style.

And Ibiza JoySail meets a series of conditions that make it truly special, not just because the destination is Ibiza and Formentera, which with their energy and great vibes enamour every single competitor, or because of the STP facilities or the privileged location of Marina Ibiza, but also because of the combination of a serious injection of adrenaline on the water and a wondrous atmosphere shoreside. All this led by an amazing organising team that channels all its enthusiasm and takes care of every single detail so that everything goes swimmingly and the participants relish the whole experience.

The prestigious sailor Nacho Postigo is in charge of the regatta. Postigo is one of the most sought-after yachtsmen in the racing world and a true connoisseur of superyacht sailing, as he has competed on both the European circuit (Saint-Tropez, Palma, Porto Cervo, etc.) and the Caribbean one (St Barths Bucket, Caribbean 600, etc.), having been sailing for many years on a series of Maxis, the legendary J Class, and the fiercely competitive TP52s, as well as in two editions of the America’s Cup (2000 and 2007).

Nacho is in charge of designing the technical strategy and the racecourse, and it’s thanks to his knowledge in this profile of boats and racing, and the fun Ibiza JoySail racetrack, that this event has amassed considerable interest in a very short time.

Continuing with the technical team on the water, the criteria for choosing the person for each position has always been to pick ‘the best’ in the field. There’s already talk of a team that includes Gaspar Morey as a pro who, alongside Sebastián Vidal, head of Ibiza Yacht Club, and Pablo Ferrer, a highly experienced measurer, together form the perfect trio for finding the best conditions and rules for a fantastic regatta. Morey, in addition to being part of the Race Committee, coordinates the Race Office. He’s the technical director of RCN Palma and has been a pro in major events such as the Copa del Rey Mapfre and PalmaVela, among others. Meanwhile, Pablo Ferrer deals with measurements in the TP52 circuit and many other high-performance yachts in the racing world.

With Sebastián Vidal, Marina Ibiza is also organising an annual environmental regatta for local children with the aim of creating a passion for the sea while fostering a sustainable awareness of the paradise where they live.

Once again, the International Jury will be headed by Andrés Pérez, who was president of the recently completed The Ocean Race and the 52 Super Series circuit. He’ll be joined by Scotland’s Bill O’Hara, Portugal’s Miguel Allen (America’s Cup and SailGP referee), Manuel Santos da Silva, and Spain’s David Maria.

Andrés Pérez is the president of the International Jury. Born in northern Spain, this sailor boasts an extensive track record in world-class competitions. Pérez enthuses that “Ibiza JoySail is a regatta with a spectacular present and future”, and adds that “this shows not just the great work done out on the water, but also on the social side. The perfect combination of water and land is the key to the success of this event”.

And as we’re talking about the social side on dry land, we simply have to mention the organising committee and its steadfast professionals from the IPM-IMG Group, promoter of this event that has burst onto the international superyacht racing circuit. This group of companies manages several yachting facilities in Valencia, Menorca, Mallorca, and Ibiza.

Representing IPM-IMG Group, Joan Rosselló (manager of STP) and Daniel Marí (manager of Marina Ibiza) are the hosts of the two facilities where all the action takes place. Both STP Shipyard Palma and Marina Ibiza are benchmarks in the yachting industry.

Alongside these two figures from the IPM-IMG Group, we mustn’t forget the marketing and communication team, where the idea of Ibiza JoySail originally came from. This passionately committed team responsible for staging the race is made up of Ana Teske, Juana Morell, Gloria Triay (niece of the famous sailor Ignacio Triay), and Kety Sierra. They’re the guardians of the positioning and essence of the race, taking care of the relationship with contestants and the coordination and proper functioning of the event on land. Thanks to their work throughout the year and their meticulous attention to detail, participants enjoy the greatest possible comfort and fun both on the water and shoreside during social events.

What’s more, Ibiza JoySail has gained such fame and prestige thanks to its press team, which since the outset has had the highly respected industry journalist Jaume Soler at the helm, backed as ever by the fervently dedicated audiovisual team, made up of renowned photographers such as Nico Martínez, Pedro Martínez and Jesús Renedo (Sailing Energy), and an old friend and expert video producer Carlos Hellín (Nautimedia).

And all this wouldn’t be possible without numerous partners that instantly saw the potential of Ibiza JoySail, choosing to offer unconditional support without which the quality of the event simply wouldn’t be the same.
