The superyacht race — having anchored its status as a benchmark in the sailing world — will be back with a bang between 18 and 21 September 2025.

Ibiza and Formentera will once again play host to this regatta, which will be sending out registration invites in January.

The Ibiza JoySail superyacht regatta has become an unmissable event for large sailing yachts and is already preparing the invitations for its 2025 edition. Between 18 and 21 September, the majesties of the sea that competed in the fourth edition and new additions to the fleet will meet in Ibiza to lock horns in one of the most prestigious races on the international circuit, hosted by STP Shipyard Palma and Marina Ibiza.

The organising committee has confirmed that registration will open in January with limited spaces and, as in the last edition, will be invitation-only.

The event held last month saw some thrilling racing from eighteen superyachts. The boats sailed the waters off Ibiza and Formentera in unpredictable winds and on challenging routes, rounding Formentera, Espardell Nature Park and the magical island of Es Vedrá on the different days.

Clive Walker, Captain of Gelliceaux, commented on the quality of sailing on the first day: “It was a champagne sailing day — the ones that are in the brochure. We made some good calls. It was a wonderful day”.

Meanwhile, Luis Doreste, Tactician on Morgana, explained upon arrival on dry land that “if the race on day one of Ibiza JoySail was good, this second one was even better. Very good wind conditions, which we were delighted with”.

Despite the poor weather conditions of the third day, sportsmanship shone through with competitive but fun activities on dry land, further bolstering the camaraderie among crews.

Nacho Postigo, Race Director, commented that “this race isn’t just action on the sea, but also a wonderful combination of activities on the water and on land, and people seem to really like it. We had a couple of evening events, which were a roaring success, and the amazing thing is that there’s great interaction between all the yachts. Here we’re all family & friends”.

The team spirit and great vibes were kept alive every single day of the event.

After an intense final day of sailing, with all five classes competing at the highest level, the participants gathered at the hospitality village to celebrate the regatta’s achievements, and Ibiza JoySail came to a close with an exciting awards ceremony.

In addition to recognising the winners in each category (Moat, Gelliceaux, Open Season, Bliss, and L’Hippocampe), the Perpetual Trophy was awarded to S/Y Maximus for her outstanding crossing between Punta Cala Figuera (Mallorca) and the island of Tagomago (Ibiza), setting the absolute record of 3 hours and 31 minutes.

For Tony Rey, Tactician on Maximus, it was his first time at Ibiza JoySail: “Aside from Ibiza being one of the most spectacular places to sail in Europe and almost the world, this is my first time at Ibiza JoySail, and it’s magnificent. Our team loves it, our owner is having a fantastic time, the parties are fun… It has everything that you could ask for. Ibiza JoySail has delivered every day, and hopefully we’ll come back next year”.

Meanwhile, Juan Entrecanales, Owner of Alarife Cien, the only Spanish supermaxi in the event, shared his enthusiasm for coming back: “We’re delighted to be here. The organisation of Ibiza JoySail gets better every year. And besides the magnificent atmosphere on land, the level and quality of the fleet is very high. We’re really enjoying ourselves and we’ll be back next year”.

Ibiza JoySail is the result of joint efforts and a great team, making it an event that enjoys valuable collaboration from sponsors, institutions, and partners.

Leading companies in the yachting industry such as North Sails, RigPro, Global Yachting, Repsol, Monzó Yacht Painting and Yacht Moving provided technical and logistical support on site, guaranteeing the best service to the yachts in the event of any needs or emergency repairs.
What’s more, there was institutional support from Ibiza Island Council and Ibiza Town Council, as well as from the aptly named Friends of Ibiza JoySail, i.e., Mangusta, Michl Marine, Southern Wind, and ClubSwan, who each year guarantee the continuity of the event.

The technical team on the water was also made up of eminent professionals and sailors led by Nacho Postigo and key to making Ibiza JoySail a reality, supported by RCNP (Real Club Náutico de Palma), CNI (Club Náutico de Ibiza), ORC (Offshore Racing Congress), and SYRA (Superyacht Racing Association)

And we shouldn’t forget our partners in creating unforgettable experiences out of the water. Tequila Don Julio, Lio Cabaret, and Roto Club were perfect for giving participants a taste of Ibiza’s vibrant nightlife and dining scene.

The fourth edition of Ibiza JoySail was a roaring success, exceeding all expectations and including the largest yacht seen so far in the regatta (60m LOA). The event saw four days of intense racing and an unparalleled party atmosphere. The hospitality programme, designed for almost five hundred people, was also a huge success.

Passion for sailing knows no bounds. And Ibiza JoySail has proven this once again. With an eye on the horizon, next year’s dates have already been announced: 18 to 21 September 2025. Invitations will be sent out soon, encouraging both regulars and newcomers to take part in this exciting and exclusive adventure.
